Outline:

 Introduction to DBMS.

 A brief description on ACID properties























 DML, DDL and DCL commands.



This is the first session for the DB2 user group community of KLNCIT, myself AVENASH M.G. a DB2 student ambassador of KLNCIT.

In this session the main concepts of the DBMS were taught to the students, so as they could lucidly understand the various concepts in the DB2 which mainly perpetuates throughout it. The basic idea behind the DBMS were taught, like we took the concept of Discrete mathematics and related and showed how it works (UNION, INTERSECTION etc.,). Students’ really found it very interesting.

After this we gave an exact definition of DBMS which helped them to draw a picture how a database will be this was done very interactively. These were followed by the explaining ACID properties and debriefing about the DDL, DML and DCL commands , the laboratory session is be taken on 22/9/09 Tuesday. The session was for 1 hour but it went like an aero plane journey full of fascinations.

• Introduction of DB2 exam 000-730



This session was fully dedicated in making awareness among the students about the exam 000-730. VAISHNAVI.V a DB2 student ambassador of KLNCIT took this session eloquently. Students were enthralled by her speech and all were driven to high spirit of pursuing the exam. This session also included various sections of the certification were discussed along with the topics covered in each section and the percentage of question in each section asked was also discussed. It was a great session and all enjoyed it.
